Evaluation- To create my music video I took inspiration from several bands and some ideas that they used. Bands like Coldplay, Travis and Oasis have incorporated and blended traditional concepts but I wanted to focus on a journey. My main influence came from Coldplay's The Scientist which used the simple yet effective idea of a journey that starts at the end and runs backwards literally to the beginning. This visually interesting footage was easy to produce without being very costly and didn't require additional props. I was able to very quickly film the video and had a lot of time to edit the footage and learn how to use the software. I learned how to make my footage run backwards which was very easy to achieve. I also was able to fade the footage in and out, layer text over the top and cut to the beat. I think the video had come out fantastically well and my simple idea was expertly executed to make a stunningly interesting video however I had to cut the audio short to fit with the footage and if I could redo my work I would film more at the beginning and emphasise the character (Ben) jumping off of the bridge by extending the footage and getting more angles of his fall into the river.
Next Year? For my music video next year I think I would like to explore stop start animation combined with footage of the band I’m working with. I may even add in some animation and experiment with different forms of media. I would like to make a pop video to contrast with the depressing rock video that I produced during transitional. I don't want to make a journey based video so I may have to invest a bit more funds into my next piece of work.
